The French Press is a classic immersion brewer. It produces a heavier-bodied cup with rich texture and sweetness. Perfect for chocolate-forward coffees and those who enjoy a fuller mouthfeel.
Pre-heat
Fill your French Press with hot water to pre-heat it, then discard the water.
Grind
Grind 15g of coffee to a coarse consistency (similar to breadcrumbs)
Add Water
Add the ground coffee to the empty press. Pour 250g of water just off the boil (93°C) evenly over the grounds, ensuring they are fully covered.
Steep
Place the lid on. Start a timer for 4 minutes. Do not plunge yet.
Break the Crust
At 4 minutes, use a spoon to gently stir the top layer (the 'crust') of coffee. Most of the grounds will fall to the bottom.
Plunge and Serve
Slowly press the plunger down. Pour immediately to stop the brewing process and enjoy.
